Arlette Hidalgo

Arlette Hidalgo is an educator, advocate, mother, and community leader who has dedicated her life to helping people access opportunity and build a better future for their families.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Arlette spent her childhood between the Dominican Republic and the United States. Her journey has given her a firsthand understanding of the challenges and sacrifices many families make in pursuit of opportunity, stability, and a brighter future for the next generation.

A graduate of Universidad Católica Nordestana, where she earned her degree in Social Studies Education with highest honors, Arlette began her career as a teacher and has spent years working alongside students, families, and communities. 

Arlette is proud to be a resident in Providence and it is where she is raising her son.  She has a strong commitment to public service through education, family advocacy, and community leadership.

Arlette is the founder of Apoyo Especial con Arlette, a community initiative that helps families navigate the education system, understand special education services, and become stronger advocates for their children. Through workshops, community outreach, and educational resources, she has empowered thousands of Rhode Island families with the knowledge and support they need to succeed.

Her service extends beyond education. Arlette has worked with organizations across Rhode Island to strengthen communities, expand language access, support early childhood education, promote civic engagement, and advocate for working families. She currently serves on the Providence Juvenile Hearing Board and has partnered with schools, nonprofits, community organizations, and local leaders to improve outcomes for children and families.

Arlette is running for State Representative because she believes every resident deserves the opportunity to thrive.
